Becoming a Digital Transformation Messiah

I just survived watching nearly 3 hours of Dune 2. Its visually great and of greater scale than Dune 1. But still 3 hrs of dessert and a lot of abrupt cuts. I was just thinking of how much this story relates to real corporate Digital Transformation (using BOT, AI, and now GenAI) and how to become the Digital Messiah 😊

· Every new technology (GenAI) can show mean features, jaw dropping skills, great potential (Feyd-Rautha) yet struggle to beat the corporate heroes (Excel, SAP) with great worshippers & strong beliefs.

· You can have all the project plans & business cases in the world, but for you to get adoption across the corporate, you need the whisperer (Lady Jessica) and the believer (Stilgar) to amplify each of your success stories.

· You could have all the sophisticated bells and whistles (atomic armory) in the world, but end of day the corporate battles are old fashion sword, knives stabs. Make sure that Digital is solving on the ground Email/ Excel / Paper issues than the large ones.

· Well, the Emperors/ monolithic IT platforms (Shaddam) are there at the top either by lineage or by winning corporate battles. Always be wary of them. If you need the top job, be ready to integrate with the corporate systems somehow (sacrifice your love for the Bosses’ daughter)

· Be even more wary about the Emperor’s advisors (Mohiam). They watch everything and lurk in the dark. Their job is to protect the Emperor, even if they keep talking of greater good.

· Somehow, from Star Wars or Dune, the good and bad are related (Paul is Harkonnen). Its cousins beating out cousins, brothers and sisters. End of the day all technologies get aligned to one of the Great Houses, however independent they appear at the start.

· Finally to be accepted as a savior, be ready to learn & earn nicknames — remember the days when BOTs used to get names (“Usul” and “Muad’Dib”), prove that you can handle tough jobs like Data Entry (ride the worm) and set & sell your vision of Citizen development (greenery)
